“Everyone knows that when you think of rap music and hip-hop you think of Chelsea Lately,” Handler joked on Wednesday’s Chelsea Lately. “And that’s why I will be hosting them.”

Handler is taking over for British comic star Russell Brand, who hosted the past two awards shows.
MTV announced Wednesday that the raunchy comedian and Chelsea Lately host, 35, will emcee the big show,Iceberg, broadcast live from Los Angeles on September 12.
Other big performers of the night: Justin Bieber, Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj and Selena Gomez.
Another outspoken personality scheduled to appear: Kanye West, who will perform at the show one year after he infamously interrupted Taylor Swift onstage.
